With the attention and volume of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT, its derivative NFT Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) has also recently set off an unprecedented upsurge. The serum NFT used for casting is even scarce, and has repeatedly hit sky-high prices.

According to data from the data analysis platform Cryptoslam, MutantApe's total sales have exceeded the 550 million U.S. dollar mark, the transaction volume in the past 7 days has increased by more than 400%, and the floor price in Opensea has also reached 10.43 ETH (nearly 40,000 U.S. dollars).

Mutant Serum NFT

Mutant Apes is a new NFT project derived from Boring Apes. The development team Yuga Labs sold 10,000 mutant apes in August, creating ETH sales worth US$96 million in just one hour.

At the same time, Yuga Labs also airdropped a free Mutant Serum NFT (mutant serum) to the existing 10,000 bored apes holders. There are three types of the serum, which are divided into M1, M2, and Mega (the highest level, only Forged 8 pieces); The holder of the Boring Ape will be able to use Mutant Serum NFT to make BAYC mutate and create a unique mutant ape.

According to Opensea transaction data, the highest-grade Mega serum was sold at a sky-high price of 888 ETH on the 26th (current price is about 3.38 million U.S. dollars), which is nearly 1.5 times higher than the previous Mega serum's highest transaction price of 350 ETH. It is understood that the buyer of the serum is Taylor Gerring, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, and today he also proudly shared the mutated MAYC on his Twitter.

At present, only the last 3 pieces of the highest grade Mega Mutant Serum NFT are left. The latest bid is 999 ETH (current price is about 3.82 million US dollars). If it is successfully sold, the highest price of this series of NFT will be written again.

The price of boring ape floor once exceeded CryptoPunks

According to previous reports, the floor price of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT once exceeded CryptoPunks, the long-time leader of the same type of NFT. According to "TheBlock" report, this change is significant because the Boring Ape NFT was launched much newer than CryptoPunks. The Boring Ape NFT was launched in April this year, and CryptoPunks was launched as early as 2017.

Over the past few months, the floor price of CryptoPunks has continued to decline, while the floor price of Boring Ape NFT has increased. It seems that there are three major factors at work.

The first factor, CoinGecko co-founder and NFT expert Bobby Ong pointed out: Compared with CryptoPunks, Boring Ape NFT has a richer IP property right. Some people are dissatisfied that Larva Labs (CryptoPunks development team) has not allocated more IP rights.

Another factor contributing to the rising price of boring apes is related to more and more celebrities owning boring apes. For example, famous talk show host Jimmy Fallon, NBA Warriors star Stephen Curry, and American rapper Post Malone all own the Boring Apes NFT. The third reason for the rising price of the Boring Ape floor is related to the possible issuance of the Boring Ape project. Bobby Ong pointed out that the Boring Ape project team is expected to issue native tokens next year, so this seems to be one of the driving factors for the rising price of Boring Ape’s NFT floor.
